Jail Assesses Inmate Security Risks And Health Care Needs

Fond du Lac County’s Jail Administrator says the health care they provide to inmates is important to their national accreditation as a jail. Captain Kevin Galske says people arrested and booked at the jail are not just assessed as a possible security risk. He says they are looked at as a patient in the health care realm and as an inmate for security purposes in the corrections realm. He says sometimes there are grievances about the health care that is provided because the people who are inmates may not have been taking good care of themselves on the streets. He says they also have to go through the proper protocols for inmates undergoing drug or alcohol withdrawal.
