James Maggie Megellas Day

It’s James “Maggie” Megellas Day in the City of Fond du Lac. It begins with a dedication at the post office, which will be renamed after the WW II hero and Fond du Lac native. That ceremony is at 11 a.m. From 12:30 to 6 p.m. activities are scheduled at the American Legion Post. Post Commander Ed Barnes says Lt. Colonel Megellas is one of the most decorated soldiers to come of World War Two. Megellas will be autographing his book from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post on Fond du Lac Avenue. At two o’clock the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team will be parachuting in. Following that there is a ceremony. There will also be food and beverages available and a World War II reenactors group.
