January Is National Radon Action Month

January is National Radon Action Month, and the Fond du Lac County Health Department is encouraging residents to protect their health and take action by testing radon level in homes and schools. Radon claims almost 21,000 lives each year, and enters homes and buildings through cracks and openings in basements, crawl spaces and slabs. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller reminds residents that short-term radon testing kits will be available during the month of January for $5.00 at the Fond du Lac County Health Department located at 160 S. Macy St., Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The kits may also be available at your local city or town clerk. You can find out more information at lowradon.org.
