Johnson, Baldwin Split On Confirmation Vote

Wisconsin’s U-S Senators will split on party lines, on the confirmation vote for Judge Kentanji Brown Jackson to the U-S Surpreme Court.

Republican Ron Johnson said in a statement that while Judge Jackson “is a decent person with a compelling life story,” she is a judicial activist and he will not vote to confirm her.

Only three Republican Senators have said they’ll vote yes. Democrat Tammy Baldwin said Jackson is well qualified and has strong experience working as a federal judge. Jackson’s expected confirmation will make her the first Black woman to serve on the nation’s high court.

A final confirmation vote on Jackson’s nomination could take place as soon as Thursday.
