Judge Suspended Without Pay In Winnebago County

A Winnebago County Circuit Court judge has been suspended. The Wisconsin Supreme Court announced Tuesday that Judge Scott Woldt will begin serving his suspension August 2nd.

The Judicial Commission informed the high court that Woldt violated the rules while presiding over six different cases in 2009, 2015 and 2016. Woldt allegedly berated at least one woman in a domestic violence case, as well as interrupted an attorney during cross-examination and used profanity in a child custody case. Woldt also displayed a handgun in court on at least two occasions.

The State Supreme Court ruled Woldt committed “serious violations of a judge’s ethical duties.”  Woldt will be suspended for 7 days without pay.
