Just Another Girl But With A Story Of Redemption

A Fond du Lac woman has found redemption through writing a book. Laura Eckert began writing the book “Just Another Girl’s Story” in 2003 as a therapeutic effort to help her cope with the abortions she had as a 16 and 17-year-old girl. She abandoned the effort, but found the spark she needed to continue after listening to another woman’s story about coping with abortion and really began writing the book last October. She says she was pregnant for the third time when she was eighteen and although she had no means to support herself told a friend who was trying to encourage her to get another abortion that she was going to have the baby. She had coped with alcohol problems and shame, but having the baby turned things around for her. Eckert says the goal in writing the book was to inspire others to forgive themselves for things they are ashamed of in their lives. Eckert will be telling her story and signing copies of her book at the Chapter 52 book store Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
