Juvenile Steals Car, Ends Up Crashing Vehicle

An early Tuesday morning stolen car chase ends up with an arrest but thankfully no one injured. The City of FDL Police Department received the initial call at 4:00am, Tuesday March 24, 202, from the owner of a 2009 Chevy Impala who called to report that the vehicle had just been stolen within the city.

Once a description of the vehicle was obtained, a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy observed the vehicle on 10th street just minutes after it had been reported stolen. The driver of the vehicle immediately began driving erratically once the Sheriff’s squad car was seen. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle continued on during a short pursuit that ended with the suspect crashing into a tree at the intersection of 4th Street and Fond du Lac Ave.

The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, fled the scene on foot. He was apprehended by the City of Fond du Lac Police and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies with assistance of the Police Department K9.

The driver was identified as a 16 year old male from the City of Fond du Lac. He is being charged with knowingly fleeing an officer, operate a vehicle without owner’s consent, and obstructing an officer. There were no injuries to the suspect or law enforcement. The chase lasted less than a mile.
