Kaufman Rolls In FDL County Executive Race

Sam Kaufman rolled to a big win Tuesday night in the FDL County Executive Race.

Kaufman had garnered 5,447, while the two write-in candidates, TIffany Brault and Richard Gedemer, had a combined 875 votes, with Brault picking the majority of the votes, grabbing 814.

According to the Fond du Lac County Clerk Lisa Freiberg, Kaufman secured a total of 266 votes from the City of Waupun and Town of Waupun. Kaufman is a resident of Waupun.

Brault is a current County Board Supervisor and also Fond du Lac City Council member, and announced her candidacy just last week. Gedemer, a member of the Fond du Lac School Board, announced his official run in a YouTube video.

Kaufman will fill the County Executive position that was held by Allen Buechel, who passed away unexpectedly in March following a heart attack. The term will expire in 2025.

Only 11% of total registered votes turned out on Tuesday, with both Freiberg and Fond du Lac City Clerk, Margaret Hefter, saying it was an extremely slow day, with no surprises. Freiberg told KFIZ News the numbers were about what she had expected.
