Kaul Says Conflicting Laws Will Need To Be Decided By The Court

Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul says there are conflicting laws on whether or not it’s legal to perform an abortion to save a mother’s life.

“It can’t be simultaneously legal and illegal to have an abortion to protect the health of the mother. And so we’ve got a strong argument on the law here. And ultimately, the court will decide.”

Kaul says his office will refuse to prosecute cases following the repeal of the federal Roe v Wade decision, and he’s urging local district attorneys and prosecutors not to waste their resources on abortion cases, rather than actual crimes affecting the community.

Kaul issued his statements while he was a guest on “Capital City Sunday.”
