FDL Man Sentenced To Jail

A former lifeguard supervisor in Fond du Lac will serve nine months in jail for sexually assaulting a lifeguard. Twenty-six-year-old Ryan Ronayne of Fond du Lac was recently sentenced in Fond du Lac County for having sex with a child 16 or older and misconduct in office.  Ronayne also was an assistant swim coach for the Fondy Swim Club. He also worked for about six months in the Fond du Lac County Jail and worked for two summers with the Green Lake County Sheriff’s boat patrol.

NFDL Man Sentenced For Shooting Incident

The 46-year-old North Fond du Lac man suspected of shooting off guns at a mobile home park in the village last January has been sentenced to 45 days in jail and will be placed on probation for two years. Shannon Kavonius was sentenced Monday in Fond du Lac County Court. He pled no contest to charges of endangering safety, marijuana possession, and operating a firearm while intoxicated. A disorderly conduct charge was read into the record and dismissed.  Charges stemmed from an incident last January 8th at the Gaslight Terrace Mobile Home Park. No one was hurt during the incident. Most of the shots were fired into the ground. 

Waupun Trucker Involved In Multi Vehicle Accident Near McFarland

A 62-year-old Waupun trucker was involved, but not injured in a multiple vehicle accident on I-39 in Dane County early Saturday morning. The Waupun man’s double bottom semi was struck by another semi that had hit several cars in the southbound lanes and traveled across the median. The driver of the other truck was a 33-year-old man from Addison, Illinois who failed to see traffic slow for bridge construction. A man and woman from Eau Claire in a passenger car were taken to the UW Hospital for their injuries.

Dodge County Detail Leads To Sixteen Warrants Being Served

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Department and law enforcement agencies from throughout the county participated in the 14th Annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail last week. The intent of the program was to serve family violence warrants.  Sheriff Dale Schmidt says they cleared 16 warrants. An Ashippun man was also cited for marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. The detail also allowed them to generate leads on other warrants.

FDL School Board Approves Budget And Tax Levy

The Fond du Lac School Board Monday approved the 2016-17 District Budget and tax levy. The proposed tax levy is $32.7 million. District Superintendent Jim Sebert says property values increased and enrollment went up. The property tax values increased by 1.34 percent and enrollment increased by 50 more kids than they anticipated. The district also is receiving more state aid then first thought. He says as a result the tax rate of $9.27 is much lower. He says that is 60 cents lower than this past year or a savings of $60 on a home valued at $100,000. The board also approved the school calendar for 2017-2018.

Send Off Ceremony For FDL Firefighter

Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue will hold a send off ceremony this afternoon for one of their own who is being deployed to serve his country for the third time in the last 12 years. Lieutenant Shawn Kneeland is also a Master Sergeant in the Wisconsin Air National Guard. Division Chief Troy Haase says the 1 p.m. ceremony at Fire Station #1 on South Main Street is their way of showing support for Kneeland. Master Sergeant Kneeland’s two previous deployments were to air bases in Iraq in 2004 and 2010 where he worked in the fire service. Haase says the master sergeant will once again be assigned to the fire service. Haase says each time Kneeland has moved up in rank in the fire service and this time will be an assistant chief. Kneeland has also helped teach Iraqi firefighters. His deployment location hasn’t been disclosed.

Marian Will Hold Open House For Veterans

Marian University will hold an informational open house for veterans interested in transferring their work and military experience into a bachelor’s or master’s degree. The open house will be held on Wednesday, November 16 from 3-7 p.m. at Marian’s Stayer Center Dining Room at its Fond du Lac campus. Admission counselors will be available to answer questions about the program and admission process.  Light refreshments will be served. Preregistration is encouraged, but not required.
