The Twins went 78-84 this season, and 305-343 overall with one postseason appearance under Molitor – that came after the 2017 season, in which the team went 85-77 but lost in the AL Wild Card Game to the Yankees. The 2018 season was plagued by injuries, an 80-game suspension for shortstop Jorge Polanco after testing positive for PED’s, and underperforming players – like Brian Dozier, Byron Buxton and Miguel Sano. Average attendance for Major League Baseball games dropped four percent this past season to its lowest mark since 2003. An average of 28,830 fans went to games this year – after 14 straight years of that average being above 30,000. MLB officials attributed the decrease primarily due to “historically bad weather” in the spring – saying the percentage drop decreased markedly after May 1st. Total attendance also dropped – with 69.63 million people attending games compared to 72.67 million in 2017.

Six ballparks throughout the league saw their smallest attendance this season since they opened. Those included stadiums in Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Minnesota, Miami and the Chicago White Sox Guaranteed Rate Field. In all, 17 of 30 teams experienced drops in attendance this year.
