Coan suffered the non-contact injury Saturday during a practice session.  He was being counted on to lead a mostly inexperienced offense this season.  After a strong junior campaign, he was on four preseason watch lists – for the Davey O’Brien Award, the Manning Award, the Maxwell Award, and the Unitas Arm Award.  He had just been named a semifinalist for the William B. Campbell Trophy last week.  It isn’t clear if he will be able to see any action in this shortened college football season.
