Milwaukee 6, Colorado 0

–The Brewers pounded out 12 hits, hitting three home runs and the pitching staff kept the Rockies off the board for the second straight game as Milwaukee swept Colorado in the National League Division Series with the win Sunday afternoon in Denver. Erik Kratz had three hits, while Jesus Aguilar, Orlando Arcia and Keon Broxton hit home runs to power the Brewers offense. Colorado managed just four hits in the game – three off of Milwaukee starter Wade Miley – in the loss. The Brewers advance to the National League Championship Series against either the LA Dodgers or Atlanta – game one is Friday in Milwaukee.

Atlanta 6, LA Dodgers 5

–Freddy Freeman’s solo home run in the sixth inning helped the Braves hold off elimination in the NLDS. The Dodgers lead the series 2-1 with game four coming up this afternoon in Atlanta.

The American League Division Series resume today. Houston goes for the sweep in game three against Cleveland – first pitch is 12:30 this afternoon. And the Red Sox and Yankees do battle in a series tied 1-1, first pitch is 6:40 pm central time.

NFL:

Detroit 31, Green Bay 23

–The Packers outgained the Lions by 257 yards, but it was overall a day to forget for the Green and Gold as they lost to Detroit Sunday at Ford Field, their third straight loss to the Lions after getting swept in 2017. Green Bay totaled 521 yards to Detroit’s 264, but three turnovers and a nightmare day from Mason Crosby plagued the Packers. Aaron Rodgers lost two fumbles, while Crosby missed four field goals and an extra point before making a 41 yarder with seven seconds left in the game.

Rodgers completed 32 of 52 passes for 442 yards and three touchdowns in the loss. Davante Adams caught nine passes for 140 yards and one of those scores for Green Bay. The 2-2-1 Packers host San Francisco next Monday night.

Minnesota 23, Philadelphia 21

–The Vikings built a 20-3 lead before holding off a late Eagles rally in the win. Minnesota is 2-2-1 and hosts the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday.

College Football:

The Badgers moved up a spot to number 15 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 after Saturday’s win over Nebraska. Wisconsin will visit Michigan, who moved up three spots to number 12 in this week’s poll after their 42-21 win over Maryland Saturday. The top four of the AP Poll remains unchanged, with Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Clemson all holding serve from last week. Notre Dame, West Virginia, Washington, Penn State, Texas and Central Florida make up the rest of the top ten.

NBA Preseason:

Milwaukee 125, Minnesota 107

–Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the exhibition win over the Timberwolves in Ames, Iowa. The Bucks visit Oklahoma City tomorrow night in preseason action.
