>>Brewers Reliever Williams Named NL Rookie Of The Year

(Milwaukee, WI)  —  Brewers first-year reliever Devin Williams has been named the National League Rookie of the Year.  The Baseball Writers Association of America made the announcement Monday afternoon.  The 26-year-old Williams held off Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm and Padres infielder Jake Cronenworth.  Williams allowed just one earned run in 27 innings, striking out exactly half of the 106 batters he faced.  He becomes the first pitcher to ever win Rookie of the Year without making a start or nailing down a save.  Mariners center fielder Kyle Lewis won the American League award.

>>2 Packers Activated From NFL’s COVID-19 Reserve List

(Green Bay, WI)  —  Packers Jamaal Williams and Kamal Martin have been activated from the NFL’s COVID-19 reserve list.  The running back Williams and linebacker Martin were able to practice with their teammates Monday.  Both missed the Thursday Night Football victory at San Francisco after they were determined to be high-risk contacts of running back A-J Dillon.  Williams and Martin should be available to play in Sunday’s home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.  Dillon stays on the reserve list after testing positive November 2nd.  Quarterback Jordan Love and linebacker Krys Barnes are also still on the list.

>>Bucks Guard Brown Reaches $750K Settlement With City Of Milwaukee

(Milwaukee, WI)  —  Milwaukee Bucks guard Sterling Brown has won a 750-thousand-dollar settlement with the city of Milwaukee.  Brown had rejected a 400-thousand-dollar offer a little over a year ago.  He had alleged Milwaukee officers targeted him in January 2018 for an arrest outside a Walgreens store.  They used a stun gun on the athlete while he was waiting to receive a parking citation.  The civil rights lawsuit was filed in U-S District Court in June 2018.  Brown will be starting his fourth NBA season this winter.

>>Badgers Down To 5 Active COVID-19 Cases

(Madison, WI)  —  The Wisconsin Badgers football team began regular game week preparations Monday and they are scheduled to practice each day all week.  Program officials reported the list of active COVID-19 cases is down to five – two players and three staff members.  That means there’s a good chance the Badgers will make the trip to Ann Arbor this weekend to play against the Michigan Wolverines.  There have been only two positive test results over the last seven days, including one player.  Athletic Director Barry Alvarez says the school is confident it has a handle on the situation, but it will continue to monitor testing results.

>>Badgers Hockey Picked To Finish 5th In Big Ten

(Madison, WI)  —  Coach Tony Granato’s U-W men’s hockey team has been picked to finish fifth in the Big Ten Conference this season.  The media poll puts the Badgers are head of just two conference opponents – Michigan State and Penn State.  Minnesota is the pick to win the title, with Michigan second and Ohio State and Notre Dame tied for third.  Wisconsin opens its season at Notre Dame.  Defending conference scoring champion Cole Caufield was named to the preseason all-Big Ten Conference team and two players, forward Dylan Holloway and defenseman Ty Emberson, were named honorable mention.
