College Hoops:

The Marian University Men’s Basketball team has been picked to finish 10th in the NACC this season, according to a preseason poll of conference coaches and sports information directors. The Sabres tallied 92 points in the poll. Defending champion Aurora University has been tabbed as the favorite to win the league this season – the Spartans totaled 269 points and 20 first place votes in the preseason ranking. The Marian men open their season under new coach Drake Diener November 17th at home against UW-Superior.

The Sabres picked up 59 points in the poll. Defending champion Wisconsin Lutheran has been picked to repeat this year – the Warriors picked up 323 points and 23 first place votes in the preseason ranking. Marian opens the season November 14th at home against Concordia-Chicago.

NBA:

The Bucks open a four-game western road trip tonight as they visit the Portland Trail Blazers. Milwaukee is 8-1 on the year, and bounced back from their first loss of the year last Thursday in a big way with a 144-109 thumping of Sacramento at the Fiserv Forum. The Bucks have the second-best record in the Eastern Conference – behind only Toronto, who is 9-1. Porland comes into tonight’s game at 7-3, after defeating Minnesota 111-81 on Sunday. Tipoff time tonight is 9pm, no broadcast on KFIZ.

MLB:

Brewers manager Craig Counsell and outfielder Christian Yelich have been named finalists for the National League Manager of the Year award and the National League MVP, respectively. Counsell is joined by finalists Brian Snitker of Atlanta and Bud Black of Colorado for Manager of the Year. Yelich, meanwhile, is up for NL MVP along with Nolan Arenado of Colorado and Javier Baez of the Chicago Cubs. The Baseball Writers Association of America will announce the award winners over four days starting next Monday. Manager of the Year will be announced November 13th, with MVP announced on November 15th.
