WIAA Regional Finals:

St. Mary’s Springs 8, West Bend 1

–Justin Schwartzmiller had the hat trick for the Ledgers who rolled to a win over the Ice Bears. Springs will take on either Arrowhead or Fond du Lac next Tuesday in the Sectional Semifinals.

Waupun 6, Homestead 1

–The Warriors will play either University School of Milwaukee or Cedarburg in Tuesday’s Sectional Semifinals.

Girls High School Hockey:

FDL Warbirds/Beaver Dam 4, Appleton United 1

–Hattie Verstegen scored a pair of goals in the win for the Warbirds. The Warbirds will host either Bay Area or Lakeshore on Tuesday in the Sectional Semifinals.

–Joslyn Herbeck scored 11 points to lead the Cardinals.

Flyway:

St. Mary’s Springs 52, North Fond du Lac 36

–Three Ledgers scored in double figures, led by Emily Mueller with 17, Gracie Rieder added 15, Brianna Freund 10. Springs finishes the regular season with a 20-2 record – that ties the school record for most wins in the regular season.

Winnebago Lutheran 58, Omro 33

–Alayna Suprenand scored 20 points, Jena Krueger added 12 points and seven rebounds in the win for WLA.

Laconia 56, Mayville 45

–Kiarra Otto scored 19 points to lead the Spartans who finish the regular season at 22-0. Maci Grade added 12 points, Haley Rens 10. Syd Schultz led Mayville with 11 in the loss.

–Dawson Wodsedalek scored 24 points to pace the Orioles in the win.

Men’s College Basketball:

Wisconsin 57, #6 Purdue 53

–Ethan Happ scored 21 points and totaled 12 rebounds for the Badgers as they upset the Boilermakers at the Kohl Center Thursday night. Both teams each made just nine shots from the floor in the first half on the way to a 32-32 tie at the break. Purdue led by as many as six with 6:32 to play, but the Badgers tied the game up at 43 with just under five minutes to play and never trailed again in the win. Wisconsin improves to 5-10 in conference and 12-16 overall, they’ll host Minnesota on Monday.

–Giannis Antetokounmpo posted a triple-double of 36 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough for the Bucks as they fell to Denver at home to head into the All-Star break on a loss. Eric Bledsoe added 27 in the loss for the Bucks, who return to play next Friday at Toronto.
