College Basketball News:

Several in-state colleges heard their names called as part of the NCAA Division 3 Men’s and Women’s Basketball tournament fields on “Selection Monday”.

In the Men’s tournament:

UW-Oshkosh will take on Lake Forest College of Illinois in a game played in Collegeville, Minnesota

UW-Platteville will face Capital University of Ohio in Rock Island, Illinois

UW-La Crosse will play the University of St. Thomas (MN) in Lincoln, Nebraska

In the Women’s Tournament:

Ripon College will travel to the University of St. Thomas (MN)

UW-Oshkosh will host a first round regional at the Kolf Sports Center. The Titans will play Pomona-Pitzer of California in the first round

UW-Whitewater will play at Washington University in St. Louis in the first round

Wisconsin Lutheran College will play Illinois Wesleyan in the Twin Cities

Wisconsin is five spots higher in this week’s Top-25 Coaches’ Poll. The Badgers went from 23rd to 18th after wins over Illinois and Northwestern last week. The Badgers also jumped three spots from 22nd to 19th in the AP Top 25. Wisconsin is 19-and-8 overall and 11-and-5 in the Big Ten. The Badgers play at Indiana tonight.

Marquette went from ninth to eighth in the Coaches’ Poll and from 11th to 10th in the country in the AP Poll. The Golden Eagles look to complete the season sweep of Villanova tomorrow night.

NBA:

Milwaukee 117, Chicago 106

–Khris Middleton and Malcolm Brogdon each scored 22 points as the Bucks – playing without Giannis Antetokounmpo – defeated the Bulls in Chicago Monday night to start a five-game road trip. Giannis was held out of the game to rest a sore knee. Milwaukee improves to 46-14 on the year – they’ll visit Sacramento on Wednesday.

NWL Baseball:

The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders have announced three more players that will be joining the team this summer – and all three are from Big Ten schools. The team announced Monday that utility player Zeb Adreon and catcher Austin Martin – both from the University of Iowa – along with catcher/first baseman Kellen Sarver from the University of Illinois have signed to play in Fond du Lac this summer.

MLB Spring Training:

LA Angels 4, Milwaukee 3

–Lucas Erceg went 2 for 2 with two RBI in the loss for the Brewers, who also got a lead-off home run from Corey Spangenberg in the game. Milwaukee hosts San Diego today – listen to the game on KFIZ with broadcast time at 1:55 pm.
