College Basketball:

Big East:

Marquette 90, Georgetown 86 (OT)

–Sam Hauser scored 28 points, making seven of Marquette’s 18 three pointers in the overtime win over the Hoyas. Andrew Rowsey added 28 of his own in the contest for the Golden Eagles. Marquette closes out the regular season at home Saturday against Creighton.

Two Wisconsin players received season-ending awards from the Big Ten Conference Monday, headlined by junior Ethan Happ being named first-team all-Big Ten. Happ earned second-team all-conference honors from the coaches, while freshman Brad Davison was named to the All-Freshman team by the coaches. Happ was a first-team All-Big Ten selection last season as well, making him the eighth player in UW history to win multiple first-team honors. Davison averages 12.1 points per game and ranks among the top five freshmen in the league in a number of categories, including scoring, assists and three-point field goals. Wisconsin senior Aaron Moesch was also recognized, earning the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.

Three WIAC teams were selected to play in the NCAA Division Three Men’s Basketball Tournament. UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville and UW-Stevens Point earned bids to the 64-team field that was announced Monday. Stevens Point won the conference’s automatic bid by winning the conference tournament, while Oshkosh and Platteville were at-large bids. UW-Oshkosh will play Marietta College of Ohio in the first round in Springfield, Ohio. Platteville will host Monmouth College of Illinois, while Stevens Point will play North Central College of Illinois in Collegeville, Minnesota. First round games begin Friday.

UW-Whitewater was the only WIAC team to earn a bid to the NCAA Division Three Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Warhawks earned the conference’s automatic bid after defeating Oshkosh in Saturday’s title game. The Warhawks will host UW-Superior in the first round on Friday.

MLB Spring Training:

Milwaukee 7, Cleveland 6

–Keon Broxton went 2 for 3 at the plate in the win. The Brewers are now 4-1 in spring training play and will host Cincinnati this afternoon.
