Men’s College Hockey:

The Marian men’s hockey team will be going to the NCAA Division Three Tournament for the first time in school history. The Sabres found out Monday morning that the NCAA had selected them as an “at-large” team for this year national championship tournament. The Sabres selection was the first time in school history that any Marian athletic program received an at-large bid to an NCAA Tournament. The Sabres will open up the 12 team, single elimination tournament on Saturday night at Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion Augsburg. The puck drops at 7pm.

High School Sports News:

The WIAA Board of Control voted last Friday to discontinue the State Summer Baseball Tournament following the 2018 season. The WIAA says that because of a steady decline in the number of schools playing summer baseball, the board voted to end the program. 50 schools are sponsoring summer baseball in 2018, with that number projected to drop to 30 by 2019-2020. At its peak in 1990, 110 schools in the state offered summer baseball. The WIAA has hosted a state tournament for summer baseball since 1965.

–The Phoenix will play Wright State in the Tournament Championship game today.

NBA:

Indiana 92, Milwaukee 89

–Eric Bledsoe scored 26 points, Giannis Antetokounmpo added 18 points and 12 rebounds as the Bucks lost to Indiana on the road Monday night. Milwaukee hosts the red-hot Houston Rockets Wednesday night. Houston has won 15 in a row coming into tonight’s game against Oklahoma City.

NBA G-League:

Wisconsin 127, Delaware 123

–Ricky Ledo scored 28 points to lead five players in double figures for the Herd as the won on the road over Delaware. Wisconsin returns home to host the Lakeland Magic on Friday.
