Men’s College Basketball:

Marian Men’s Basketball coach Mark Boyle is retiring after 30 years leading the Sabres program. Boyle began his tenure at the school in 1988, and is the winningest coach in Sabre basketball history with 390 wins. 154 of those wins came in Lake Michigan Conference play, which saw the Sabres win four regular season championships and four tournament championships under Boyle. Boyle led Marian to a 107-109 record in NACC play, highlighted by the 2013-14 season that saw Marian post a 17-3 conference mark and 22-7 overall record, losing to UW-Stevens Point by two points in the NCAA Tournament after leading by five at halftime. In total, Boyle coached 64 student-athletes to all-conference honors, eight to all-district recognition, five conference players of the year and one freshman of the year. He also went on to earn coach of the year honors in 1990, 1991, 2001, 2008 and 2014.

Big East Tournament – First Round:

The Marquette Golden Eagles begin play in the Big East Tournament tonight at Madison Square Garden in New York City with a game against DePaul. Marquette holds the number seven seed in the tournament while DePaul is the number 10 seed. The Golden Eagles went 9-9 in conference and 18-12 overall, while DePaul was 4-14 in league play and 11-19 overall. The teams split their meetings this season, with Marquette winning 70-52 on January 15th and the Blue Demons getting the win 70-62 on February 24th. The winner of tonight’s game advances to take on number 2 seed Villanova in the quarterfinals. Tipoff time is 8:30 pm.

–The Blue Demons hit 16 three-pointers in the win

Horizon League Tournament – Championship:

Green Bay 62, Wright State 44

–The Phoenix win their fourth straight Horizon League title

MLB Spring Training:

Chicago White Sox 6, Milwaukee 4

–Travis Shaw went 2 for 3 with two home runs in the loss for the Brewers. Milwaukee plays Kansas City today.
