Softball:

St. Mary’s Springs competed in the Mauston High School Challenge on Saturday – defeating Weston 10-5 and Phillips 5-3. The Ledgers then lost their final game of the day to Cumberland 5-0.

Mayville 5, Waupun 4 (8 Innings)

–Emily Karvala and Reannah Zimmer each had two hits – with Zimmer clubbing a home run and driving in two runs in the win for the Cardinals

Mayville 7, West Salem 1

–Delaney Vetter struck out 13 batters in the win for Mayville

Girls Soccer:

Sheboygan North 4, Fond du Lac 1

Track & Field:

The Wisconsin State Indoor Track and Field Championships were held at UW-Whitewater on Saturday. Highlighting the meet for Fond du Lac High School were:

Boys: Andrew Stone set a new State Record in the Shot Put, with a throw of 67’ 11.5”

Dylan Sieloff took ninth place in the Pole Vault (13-00.00)

David McArthur took ninth place in the High Jump (5-10.00)

The 4X2 Relay team of Eben Sauer, Tyler Collien, Dylan Sieloff and Adam Hopper took sixth place (1:34.70)

Girls: Ally Schmitz finished in 4th place in the 800 meter run (2:22.14) and had an 8th place finish in the 1,600 meter run (5:20.79)

–The Brewers got home runs from Lorenzo Cain, Ryan Braun and Eric Thames, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the Cubs who took game two of the series at Miller Park Saturday evening. Jason Heyward homered twice, going 3-3 at the plate in the win for Chicago. The Cubs scored seven runs in the eighth inning to put the game out of reach. The final game of the series is this afternoon, coverage starts at 12:35 on KFIZ.

–The Rattlers win despite having just one hit in the game. Both runs for Wisconsin scored on an error in the sixth inning.

–Eric Bledsoe scored 33 points and had 11 assists in the loss for the Bucks. Milwaukee hosts Atlanta this evening at Fiserv Forum, coverage starts at 5:30 on KFIZ.

NCAA Tournament – Final Four:

–Virginia’s Kyle Guy is fouled shooting a three-pointer with 1.5 seconds left and drains all three free throws to give the Cavaliers the win.

Texas Tech 61, Michigan State 51

–The Red Raiders score the game’s final nine points to defeat the Spartans and advance to the National Championship game for the first time in school history.
