High School Sports – Saturday’s Results: 

WIAA “Alternate Fall” State Cross Country Meet: 

The Fond du Lac High School Boys and Girls Cross Country teams competed at the state meet on Saturday, held at Blackhawk Golf Course in Janesville. 

The Fondy girls took sixth place at the meet, while the Fondy boys finished in eighth place. Sophie Schneider was the top individual finisher for the Cardinals, placing 30th overall, with Ally Schmitz facing close behind her in 36th place. Charlie Quast was the top individual finisher for the Fondy boys team, placing 30th overall.

Boys Golf: 

Fond du Lac placed third at the Fondy Invitational on Saturday at Rolling Meadows Golf Course in Fond du Lac. The Cardinals shot a 352 as a team, with Wyatt Pfeiffer taking first place individually with a 78. Fondy’s Cole Thorin tied for fourth with an 83 at the invite. Oak Creek won the meet with a 347, just edging out second place Appleton West which finished with a 348.

–Brewers starter Adrian Houser got it done on both offense and defense as the Brewers topped the Marlins to snap their six-game losing streak. Houser struck out 10 batters in six innings on the mound, and clubbed a solo home run in the fourth inning – his second homer of the season, and second against the Marlins this year. Avisail Garcia added a two-run shot in the fifth to help the Brewers seal the win. The series wraps up this afternoon – radio coverage begins at 11:35 AM, with first pitch at 12:10.
