Boys Golf – WIAA Division 3 State Meet: 

Teddy Schumacher from St. Mary’s Springs finished in a tie for fourth place in the final standings after day two of the WIAA D-3 Boys State Meet at Trapper’s Turn Golf Club in Wisconsin Dells on Tuesday. Schumacher shot a 77 on day two, finishing the tournament with a 12-over-par 156. 

Lancaster’s Noah Kirsch won the individual state title, shooting a 71 on day two of the meet to finish with a three-over-par 147 for the tournament. 

Northwoods League Baseball: 

Traverse City 10, Fond du Lac 5

–Tavian Josenberger had a pair of hits and drove in two runs for the Dock Spiders in the loss. The Pit Spitters scored eight runs in the seventh inning to take the lead for good in the win. Fond du Lac is off today and returns to action Thursday night in Green Bay.

–A hit-by-pitch and a sacrifice fly put the Reds in front in extras as they won for the second straight night over the Brewers at American Family Field. 

Both starting pitchers pitched seven strong innings – but their offense did little to help them out. The Brewers’ Brett Anderson gave up just one hit, walked one and struck out nine – while his counterpart Luis Castillo surrendered three hits, walked three and struck out seven. Omar Narvaez had two hits to lead the Brewers’ offense in the loss. 

Milwaukee tries to avoid the sweep today – first pitch is 1:10 PM, with radio coverage starting at 12:35 on KFIZ.

–The Bucks blew a 17-point second-half lead and are now on the brink of elimination from the playoffs after falling to Brooklyn in Game Five on Tuesday night. Kevin Durant’s triple-double of 49 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists led the way for the Nets, who took a 3-2 series lead over Milwaukee and can now win the series in Game Six Thursday night. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 34 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the loss for the Bucks. 

Game Six is Thursday night in Milwaukee – tipoff is 7:30 PM.
