>>LaFleur Repeats Thought:  “I See (Rodgers) Here For A Really Long Time”

(Green Bay, WI)  —  Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur says Aaron Rodgers is the Packers’ quarterback and thinks he will be with the team “for a really long time.”  LaFleur was talking to the media before the players report for practice today (Monday). He says nothing is guaranteed in the NFL, but he feels lucky to be able to work with Rodgers on a daily basis and he doesn’t see that changing.  The comments made Sunday come after Rodgers said on a podcast he believes the Packers are preparing to move on from him.  He says Green Bay traded up to draft Jordan Love.  That means they like him and they “want to play him.”

>>Gamel Inherits CF After Lorenzo Cain Opts Out For 2020 Season

(Milwaukee, WI)  —  Ben Gamel has some big shoes to fill – especially on defense.  All-Star center fielder Lorenzo Cain notified the Brewers Saturday he will opt-out of the rest of the 2020 season.  That leaves the door open for Gamel who hit .248 last year.  Cain has been the team’s Gold Glove center fielder for the last two seasons.  He has hit .287 with 22 home runs and 55 stolen bases in parts of four seasons.  Gamel has hit .263 in five major league seasons with Seattle and Milwaukee.  Metrics show he is a slightly about average centerfielder.
