NWL News: 

Seven Fond du Lac Dock Spiders players have been selected to participate in the Northwoods League “Major League Dreams Showcase” on August 6th. Position players Tate Kolwyck, Sam Novitske, Kellen Sarver and Charlie Maxwell along with pitchers Aaron Funk, Aaron Ball and Ryan Bader will take part in a day of workouts in front of Major League Baseball scouts and play in a doubleheader game at Warner Park in Madison. The Dock Spiders are set to play in the second game of the day – which is scheduled for 7:35 pm.

Milwaukee 9, Pittsburgh 7

–Christian Yelich hit home runs number 38 and 39 on the season and the Brewers held on for a much needed win in game one of their series against Pittsburgh on Monday night. Yelich’s first homer of the night came in the first inning – as the Brewers built a 5-0 lead. Pittsburgh pulled within two runs twice – 5-to-3 and 8-to-6, but were never able to grab the lead. Yelich’s second home run provided some insurance – as his 425 foot shot in the eighth inning made it 9-to-6, splashing in the Allegheny River after leaving the park. Jordan Lyles picked up the win to improve to 7-7 on the year, Josh Hader picked up his 26th save of the season. Game two of the series is tonight – coverage starts at 5:30, first pitch at 6:05 on KFIZ.

MLB News: 

Another Brewers starting pitcher has been placed on the injured list. The team announced Monday they placed Zach Davies on the 10-day injured list with back spasms. To take his place, the team called up newly-acquired Jake Faria from Triple-A San Antonio. Pitcher Devin Williams was also promoted from Triple-A, while pitcher Aaron Wilkerson was sent back down to the minors. In addition, Jimmy Nelson was transferred to the 60-day injured list on Monday. Davies joins Brandon Woodruff and Jhoulys Chacin as Brewers starters on the injured list this year.

There’s still a few weeks left in this season for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, but the team has announced their 2020 season schedule. The Rattlers will open next season at home against the Burlington Bees on April 9th – part of 70 games at Fox Cities Stadium next year.
