Sports Headlines:

>>Brewers Trade David Phelps For 3 Minor League Pitchers

(Milwaukee, WI)  —  The only move the Milwaukee Brewers made at Monday’s trade deadline involved reliever David Phelps going to the Phillies.  The deal helps the Brewers bulk up a minor league system lacking prospects.  In his first year with Milwaukee, the 33-year-old Phelps has pitched to a 2-and-3 record with a two-point-77 earned run average.  He allowed only seven hits and a pair of walks in 13 innings while striking out 20.  In return, Milwaukee gets 19-year-old right-handed pitchers Juan Geraldo, Israel Puello, and Brandon Ramey.

>>Injury To CB Ento Leaves Packers Thin In Defensive Backfield

(Green Bay, WI)  —  After one season on the Green Bay Packers practice squad, it looked like Kabion Ento was going to make the 53-man roster this time.  His arrival is going to be delayed by a broken foot he suffered during practice last week.  Ento had surgery Wednesday and may be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.  Coaches say he was making an impact and appeared to be in the mix for one of the roster spots at cornerback.  The Packers’ first-team lineup is set at the position, but they are thin.  It is possible a one-year deal could be offered to Tramon Williams, who is still looking for a job.  Green Bay has given no indication it will go that route yet.

>>Badgers Coan Listed Among Top 30 College Football Quarterbacks

(Madison, WI)  —  Coming off a solid 2019 season, Wisconsin Badgers senior quarterback Jack Coan is listed among the top 30 at his position by Pro Football Focus.  He earned the best grade among Big Ten quarterbacks last season.  The website says Coan needs to improve his deep ball, but he performed well.  He connected on 236-of-339 passes for more than 27 hundred yards, 18 touchdowns, and only five interceptions.  Four Big Ten quarterbacks made the list, including number two Justin Fields of Ohio State, number five Tanner Morgan of Minnesota, number 12 Michael Penix Junior of Indiana, and number 14 Peyton Ramsey of Northwestern.
