Oshkosh West defeated Fond du Lac 230-251 in an FVA Dual Meet at Rolling Meadows Golf Course. Fondy’s Maisey Wilhelms was the meet medalist after scoring a 54.

–The Packers defense picked up for a struggling offense, limiting the Bears to only a first quarter field goal in a season opening win at Soldier Field Thursday night. Aaron Rodgers threw for 203 yards and connected with Jimmy Graham in the second quarter for the only touchdown of the game. Both Rodgers and Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky were sacked five times – and neither offense could muster 50 yards on the ground. The Packers host the Vikings in Week Two, while the Bears travel to Denver. 

MLB:

National League: 

Chicago Cubs 10, Milwaukee 5

–A five-run sixth inning, powered by a Grand Slam from Kyle Schwarber helped lift the Cubs past the Brewers in the series opener at Miller Park Thursday night. Willson Contreras had four hits, including a double and a homer – as the Cubs pounded out 16 hits off of Brewers pitching. Lorenzo Cain had two hits and Corey Spangenberg hit a solo home run to lead the Brewers in the loss. Game two of the series is tonight – Zach Davies gets the start for Milwaukee against Cole Hamels of the Cubs. No broadcast on KFIZ because of High School Football.
