Kiel HS Shooting Threat – Update

A
search outside Kiel
High School
did not turn
up any evidence of a shooting after a school employee thought they heard
gunshots early this morning. An employee at the school called police around
6:45 am after reportedly hearing gunshots outside the school’s main entrance. Police
have searched the school and the outside area near the door, but have not found
any evidence of shots being fired. Kiel’s
Police Chief Dave Funkhouser says it is still an active investigation, but doesn’t
believe there is any threat to the community. Buses this morning were diverted
to New Holstein where parents picked up their kids and classes were cancelled
at the school. Rumors of a shooting threat taking place at the High School today
circulated earlier in the week, but police say there was no evidence to support
that rumor.
