Kiel School District Receives 5th Bomb Threat

A fifth bomb threat against the city of Kiel and the Kiel School District was received Tuesday morning.

The Kiel Police Department received the threat just before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday (5/31/2022).

The fifth threat followed the same pattern as the previous four, making mention of the ongoing Title IX investigation within the district involving three middle school students. The threats started back on May 23.

A number of locations in Kiel evacuated employees due to the threat, with buildings searched, but no devices located.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice and FBI continue to investigate the threats.

There were no students and staff in any of the buildings as classes are virtual through the end of the school year. The decision to go virtual was made last week in the midst of the earlier threats received.

School District staff notified parents Monday that Kiel High School Graduation ceremony set for Sunday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m. has been postponed. A new date and/or location has not yet been disclosed.

The city of Kiel canceled the Memorial Day Parade due to safety concerns.
