Kohl Educational Foundation to Honor Area Students, Teachers on Saturday

The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation will honor several area students, teachers and principals at an awards luncheon Saturday in Appleton. Students receiving a Kohl Foundation Excellence Scholarship include Cade Christensen from St. Mary’s Springs, Isaac Grahl from Campbellsport, Claire Limberg from Lomira, Sean Maurer from Oakfield, Katrina Pokorny from Waupun and Grace Rauch of Ripon. Two area students – Gabrielle Liebenow from Waupun and Lauryn Zurn from Campbellsport are set to receive an Initiative Scholarship from the foundation.

Area teachers receiving a Teacher Fellowship from the foundation include Nici Colwin from Shepherd of the Hills Catholic School in Eden, Jessica Longdin from Evans Elementary in Fond du Lac and Jenny Stahl from Horace Mann High School in North Fond du Lac. Beth Roehl of St. Cloud – a teacher at Elkhart Lake High School – is also a teacher fellowship recipient.

Excellence and Initiative Scholarship grants total $10,000 and will be issued to the college the student will attend. Teacher fellows will receive a $6,000 fellowship, with an additional $6,000 awarded to the teacher’s school. The Kohl Foundation awards around 200 scholarships, 100 teacher fellowships and 16 principal awards annually throughout the state. Saturday’s luncheon begins at Noon at Appleton North High School.
