Laconia Will Defend State Softball Crown….Oaks Fall In Semis

 

 

Laconia pitcher Kayla Schwebke was perfect as the Spartans
advanced to the WIAA Division Three State Championship Game for the 3rd
straight year with a 9-0 win over Mishicot on Saturday at the Goodman Diamond
in Madison.  Schwebke struck out 11 and retired all 21
batters she faced to pick up the win.  Laconia (28-0) scored
three runs in the first inning and never looked back were challenged by the
Indians.  The defending D3 champs will
face Grantsburg (26-2) on Saturday afternoon at 12:30pm.  You’ll hear it on KFIZ.  Coverage begins at 12:05pm.

Oakfield fell to #1 ranked
Thorp 10-0 in 5 innings in the Division Four State Semifinal on Friday
afternoon.  Thorp scored three runs in
the 1st,  six in the 4th, and
a single run in the 5th to end the game early.  The Oaks committed 5 errors in the game and
just two of the 10 runs charged to starting pitcher Mikayla Newton were earned.
Oakfield’s season ends at 18-9.   Thorp
will play Southwestern for the Division Four State Championship on Saturday
morning.
