Lake Winnebago Rescue Praised
DNR Conservation Warden Tom Sturdivat and DNR Ranger Jeff Nieling were praised Thursday for their efforts to rescue a couple stranded on Lake Winnebago during a thunderstorm. They got the call on the evening of July 19th about a 17-foot-boat in the middle of the lake with high waves and winds gusting over 30 miles an hour. Sturdivant says he was worried their 28-foot patrol boat was going to go down. They were able to locate the disabled boat and bring it and the terrified couple to a boat launch just north of Oshkosh.
