Lakeside Park Christmas Lights Donation Boxes Vandalized

Donations boxes for the Christmas light displays at Lakeside Park were vandalized and money inside them was taken. Fond du Lac Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says early Monday morning an officer on patrol found a box located at Park Avenue and Harborview Drive had been broken into. The officer also checked the donation box at Lighthouse Drive and that too had been pried open and the money taken. Money donated for the lights goes toward the purchase of new lights and maintenance of the current lights in the park, but not the laser light show on the west side of the park. Klein says it is unfortunate someone chose to vandalize a source of revenue for upkeep of the beautiful light displays at the park. The boxes will be repaired and upgraded to try and prevent future vandalism. Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call the police department’s non-emergency number at (920) 906-5555 or the Crime Alert number at 322-3740.
