Lakeside Park Exploratory Committee Holds Initial Meeting

The Lakeside Park Exploratory Committee held its first meeting Tuesday night. The 17-member panel was sworn in and selected a chair and vice-chair. UW-Fond du Lac Dean John Short was elected the chair of the committee and Ray Lapierre the Vice-President of the Fond du Lac Festivals Board of Directors was elected vice-chair. City Council President Sam Meyer welcomed the group and thanked them for their service. He says the committee really does make up a cross section of the community. One of the group’s first decisions was to ask permission to hire a facilitator for the meetings. City Manager Joe Moore told them that’s something they can do and there is funding in the budget for that. Chairman John Short says that’s a good idea given the size of the committee. The committee will meet at 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Their next meeting is Tuesday, September 23rd. The committee’s goal is to have their recommendations in place to give them to the City Council by next June 1st.
