Lakeside Park Exploratory Committee Will Be Formed

The Fond du Lac City Council last night voted to form a Lakeside Park Exploratory Committee. Before the Council approved the committee Councilman Gary Miller suggested using the word utilization instead of development in the resolution to form the committee. He felt the committee should take a look at the best way to get the most use out of the park and not just look at possible commercial development. During the public comment section of the meeting resident Jane Ricchio  said the Council should first survey city residents to see if commercial development is even wanted. Council President Sam Meyer came up with a way of selecting the committee with members of the Council and Parks Board each selecting their top fifteen and drawing names from a hat for any ties. He says the committee will be confirmed at the Council’s next meeting on July 23rd. Council members Brian Foster and Catherine Block voted against the forming of the committee. Foster says the Council isn’t involved in selecting other committees and shouldn’t be involved in picking this one.
