Lakeside Park Master Plan Reviewed

The Fond du Lac City Council got an update Wednesday night on Lakeside Park master plan. It includes a proposal for a second pavilion with an attached restaurant and patios. The pavilion would be north of N. Main Street and a pier would be built north of the pavilion. Public Works Director Skiff says they would ask for requests for proposals from restaurants that would lease the space. Skiff says they would budget for the pavilion and restaurant in the Capital Improvements Plan for 2018. It would include parking south of the pavilion. The cost would be $2.3 to $3.6 million. Excel Engineering prepared the plan. Skiff says Excel invited its employees to a dinner and asked them about their ideas for the park. They had some good ideas. Excel was able to incorporate 16 of the Lakeside Park Exploratory Committee’s 27 recommendations into the plan. Council members praised Excel’s work including Councilman Brian Kolstad. The public will have a chance to comment on the plan prior to the Advisory Park Board’s meeting on Monday, July 25th at 3:30 p.m. at the City-County Government Center.
