Large Barn Fire In Town Of Eldorado

Ten cows perished and several more were injured in a barn fire in the Town of Eldorado Friday morning. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials say the large barn at W9135 Lincoln Road is owned by Gregory and Laura Rickert. A Sheriff’s detective is working with the Eldorado Fire Department to determine the cause, but the fire is not considered suspicious. Damage estimates are put at $250,000. Approximately 14 fire departments responded to the fire. The Red Cross and Alliant Energy also assisted. The fire was reported shortly before 3:30 a.m.  

More than 15 fire departments were called to help put out at a large barn fire at W9113 Lincoln Road in the Town of Eldorado early Friday morning. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Chris Dobyns says hay was stored in the barn and dairy cows. The barn was a total loss. Dobyns says at the time they issued a press release they did not know how many if any cows were inside the barn during the blaze and may have perished. The fire was reported shortly before 3:30 a.m. The cause will be determined.
