Lawmakers Roll Out Broadband Connectivity Bill

The State Legislature is working out how best to spend some 70 million dollars in broadband expansion funding. State Representative David Steffen says lawmakers want to put together an interactive map for residents to see broadband connectivity in their area.

“Individuals who are making decisions on where they’re going to live or start a business can clearly one Stop Shop figure out exactly whether their parcel, their neighborhood is currently served by broadband.”

The state plans to spend those 70 million dollars specifically on expanding wireless broadband in remote rural parts of Wisconsin and also expanding cell phone coverage along state highways.
