Leavitt Explains UW-Oshkosh Vaccination Scholarships

Recent campaigns announced by both UW-Oshkosh and the University of Wisconsin System are looking to give incentives to students who have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

UW-Oshkosh Chancellor Andrew Leavitt tells KFIZ News that there are two so-called ‘layers’ to these incentive programs – one at the university and one at the system level – and both involve scholarship money.

“We will have a series of $1,000 scholarships, ten of them, available that we will be giving out to students who can show proof of vaccination during the course of the early fall semester. The big news then would be at the system level, where if we hit the mark of the 70% vaccination rate for UW-Oshkosh on all three campuses, that would make our vaccinated students eligible for up to eight, $7,000 scholarships.”

A press release from UW-Oshkosh says the scholarships being offered by the campus will be offered regardless of the vaccination rate reached on campus. The campaigns run through October 15th.
