Ledger Girls Head Back To State!

 

The St. Mary’s Springs Academy
is heading back to the Division Four State Girls Basketball Tournament in Green Bay after a 56-34
win over Whitefish Bay Dominican in the Sectional Final on Saturday afternoon
at Hartland Arrowhead.  The Ledgers led
by 9 points 16-7 early in the 2nd quarter before Marquette recruit
Allazia Blockton scored 10 of her game high 21 points in the quarter to cut the
lead to 24-21.  Mitch Redig’s squad
turned up the defense in the 2nd half holding the Knights to just 3
points in the 3rd quarter and 10 in the 4th to secure
their 2nd straight Sectional championship.  Senior Kelli Schrauth led the Ledgers with 18
points.  Liz Bohn added 15 and Anja Smith
10 in the win.  In Thursday’s State
Semifinal, St. Mary’s Springs (24-2) will face defending Division Four champ Cuba City
(26-0) who defeated LaCrosse Aquinas 70-44 in their Sectional Final.  That game will tip at 6:35pm on News-Talk 1450
