Ledgers Back in D6 Title Game

Junior Flinton Floyd ran for
four touchdowns as St. Mary’s Springs earned a chance to defend their WIAA Division
Six state football championship with a 34-7 win over Grantsburg on Saturday
afternoon in Schofield.  Floyd capped off
their opening drive of the game with a six yard TD run to put the Ledgers up
6-0 with the extra point hitting the upright. 
Just 3:36 seconds later quarterback Blake Bauer hit freshman Mitch
Waechter on a 30 yard pass to go up 13-0. 
The Ledgers made it 20-0 at the half on a 15-yard Floyd run.  Floyds 3rd TD run was a 1-yard
carry with 3:33 left in the 3rd quarter to make it 27-0.  Grantsburg freshman Leo Chenal got the
Pirates on the board with a 14 yards reception with :27 seconds left in the 3rd
quarter making it 27-7.  Floyd;s 4th
TD was a 14 yard run with 1:57 left in regulation.  The D6 title game will be a rematch of last
year against Darlington.  The Ledgers won that matchup 37-28.  Darlington
knocked out SMSA in the state semis in 2013. 
The kickoff from Madison’s
Camp Randall Stadium is set for 1pm.
