Ledgers Edge Cardinal Skaters

St. Mary’s Springs took the hockey bragging rights in the city with a 2-1 win over Fond du Lac at a packed Blueline Family Ice Center on Saturday night.  The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission when Michael Wilson beat Ledger goalie Andy Riehl over his left shoulder as time expired in the period.  Ben Pertl tallied the assist.  Mark Austin evened the game at 1 in the 2nd period with 5:28 left with an assist going to Logan Mertens.  The Ledgers Brady Sarauer notched the game winner with 11:37 left in the 3rd period when he beat goalie William Shober through the five-hole on a round off the back board with Zach McLaughlin getting the assist.  Riehl made 29 saves for St. Mary’s Springs while Shober turned back 19 Ledger shots.   St. Mary’s Springs (6-2, 3-1) has now won six straight games and will head to Antigo for a holiday tournament in Antigo that begins next Friday.  Fondy (4-4, 2-2) will play Germantown on Friday night at Arrowhead.
