Local Ag In the Classroom Groups Receive WFBF Matching-Grants

The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation’s “Ag in the Classroom”
program recently awarded over nine-thousand dollars to schools and
organizations to expand agricultural literacy. 22 matching-grant recipients
were announced in the state, including two in the Fond du Lac area. The Laconia
FFA Day on the Farm of Rosendale received $250 dollars to help fund their
program, which brings about 400 second-through-fourth graders to a farm for a
visit each spring. In Green Lake County, a program called “Agri-Puppets: Where
Education Meets Entertainment”, received $500. The Green Lake County Fair will
be hosting that program, which specializes in teaching the importance of agriculture,
farming and animals.

The matching-grant program allows groups, schools and organizations
to apply for as much as $500 to support their project, provided they have a
source of matching funds.
