UPDATE: Man Found Dead With Self Inflicted Gunshot Wound. Local Authorities Working A Tactical Situation Northeast Of Fond du Lac

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department, the man in this tactical situation was found with an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. The shelter in place has been lifted and roads in the area have been opened up. KFIZ will have more on this situation as it becomes available.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department is working a tactical situation which possibly started as a domestic situation where a male opened fire with a gun in a house.

The location is near County Highway UU near Mercury Marine Racing, about a half mile south east of Peebles. The sheriff’s department is using the Mercury facility as its command post.

It is possible the suspect fled on foot and could be in the wooded area near the residence, or still inside the house.

County Highway UU is blocked to traffic between Golf Course Drive to the south and Ledge Road to the north.

Units that we know of on scene now are The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department, including their armored vehicle, Wisconsin State Patrol, The City of Fond du Lac Police Department’s armored vehicle and drone team, Mt, Calvary and City of Fond du Lac Ambulance and Wisconsin Conservation Department.

According to a press release from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department, ” When deputies arrived, they heard what sounded like a gunshot come from the area of the residence, however that has not been positively confirmed.”

Wisconsin State Patrol has sent extra units to Fond du Lac County to work non related calls while Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department works this scene.
