Local Campground Owner Questions Validity Of Closing

The local owner of Breezy Hill Campground located in Fond du Lac County is questioning the validity of the recent move made by Fond du Lac County Health Officer Kim Mueller. On Tuesday afternoon, Mueller announced that all campgrounds within the county will be shut down, due to COVID-19 concerns, and would remain closed at least until April 24.

Owner of Breezy Hill, Jon Wiltzius, tells KFIZ that he is investigating the validity of the order, saying he’s not sure counties in the state are able to supersede the orders of the Governor. Wiltzius says he has spoken to the Directors of the Campground Associations he is a member of, and is having them look into the matter further.

Breezy Hill typically opens for the season on the 15th of April, and remains open until October 15. Wiltzius says they are preparing for a summer of change at the campground, and this season will be unlike any other season they’ve seen, or will see.
