Local Firefighters Among Volunteers For Bucket Brigade Effort

The KFIZ and 107.1 The Bull Bucket Brigade for the Fond du Lac Salvation Army expanded this year to locations on the north and south end of the city for Friday’s event. That may be why donations increased significantly. Preliminary numbers are in and according to Salvation Army officials about $18,000 was raised before an $8,000 match from Michel’s Corporation is figured in. Members of Firefighters Local 400 rang bells and collected donations at both the KFIZ parking lot on Winnebago Drive and the Cobblestone Square on South Main Street. Fire Lieutenant Jason Roberts says they are part of the community and were happy to participate. Last year’s Bucket Brigade raised $17,000 with the Michels match.  The Salvation Army hopes to raise $160,000 during their red kettle campaign this season to help fund the services they provide to the community. Update: We received word late Friday afternoon that with the Michels Corporation $8,000 match a total of $26,726.10 was raised through the Bucket Brigade.
