Local Firefighters Present Check Hospice Hope Expansion Project

The Hospice Home of Hope expansion project got a boost from Fond du Lac Firefighters Local 400 Thursday afternoon with a check for $1,000. The $2.5 million effort will add 10 beds and over 7,300 square feet to the facility on County Highway K next spring. Fire Chief Peter O’Leary says Local 400 has given back quite a bit to the community over the years. He says throughout the years they’ve donate over $200,000 to local charities. O’Leary says the firefighters are aware that there is a waiting list for the facility and the expansion will help reduce that list. He says they thought it might also boost awareness in the community about the need to give to the effort. Chief O’Leary says the carcinogens firefighters deal with through their work is contributing to more firefighters getting cancer. The check was presented to the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation’s Executive Director Rita Meidam. Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue photo.
