Local Golf Pro Gets To Play at PGA Championship

Michael
O’Reilly, the PGA Head Professional at Whistling Straits since 2007, has
stepped inside the ropes on Saturday at the 97th PGA Championship.

O’Reilly,
38, served as a playing marker for PGA TOUR Professional Morgan Hoffman in the
lead pairing teeing off at 9:15 a.m.

Todd
Wagner, Manager of Kohler Golf Academy, is serving as O’Reilly’s caddie.

O’Reilly
continues the long PGA of America tradition of either a host PGA Professional
or a local PGA member serving to fill a pairing for the third and fourth rounds.
The third-round pairings featured 77 players who made the 36-hole cut of
2-over-par 146.

O’Reilly
previously served as a playing marker for the 2004 PGA Championship at
Whistling Straits when he was paired with Scott Drummond, a PGA Club
Professional from Blaine, Washington.

A resident
of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, O’Reilly has been a member of the
Kohler Golf team for 19 years. He was elected as Class “A” member of the PGA of
America in 2004.

In addition
to his role as Head Golf Professional, O’Reilly also is a lead instructor for
the Kohler Golf Academy,
and serves in a leadership role for major championships hosted at Whistling
Straits.

O’Reilly’s score was not kept but he unofficially shot an 82.
