FDL Man Sentenced To Prison On Child Porn Charge

Fond du Lac County Judge Peter Grimm this week sentenced a 38-year-old Fond du Lac man to prison for possessing child pornography. Keith Stinemates was sentenced to three years in prison and ten years of extended supervision. An additional child porn possession charge and two counts of child sexual exploitation were read into the record and dismissed. 

Candyman Incident An Act Of Kindness

Washington County Sheriff’s officials learned an 86-year-old West Bend man was the person who offered candy to two young girls at a County Park Monday night. A detective learned the man had done similar acts of kindness in the past, but promised to stop the practice. The man was in a minivan at Ackerman’s Grove County Park when he offered the 9 and 11 year-old girls the candy.

Disability Phishing Scams

An official with the state’s Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection Department says scammers are stooping to try and take advantage of people with disabilities. Frank Frassetto says scammers are phishing or trying to get those applying for disabilities benefits to unknowingly give them information they can use. He says as with most phishing scams if you receive an email don’t click on a link or download anything if you’re being asked to verify personal or financial account information. He says if it’s through a phone call hang up. He says you can always call the Social Security Administration to ask them if they are trying to verify information for an application. He says that phone number is 1-800-772-1213.

New Campaign Website For State Senate Candidate

Feyen for Senate Campaign has introduced a new and improved website. The new interactive website details the “Dan Feyen Playbook”, Feyen’s priorities if he’s elected the next Senator of the 18th Senate District. It also has an endorsement page. Incumbent Senator Rick Gudex is not seeking reelection. Feyen is one of two Republican candidates running for the seat. There area also two Democratic candidates.

Flight For Life To Recognize Agnesian Hospitals

Flight for Life officials will present representatives of St. Agnes Hospital, Waupun Memorial Hospital, and the Ripon Medical Center with their Partners in Safety Award today. Agnesian HealthCare officials are being recognized for working with Flight for Life to keep them informed during hospital expansions in Ripon and Waupun, upgrades to the helipad at St. Agnes in Fond du Lac, and a drone awareness campaign. The presentation will be at St. Agnes Hospital.

College For Kids And LEAPS Registration Deadline Approaching

Two popular education camps for kids are coming up at the UW-Fond du Lac campus in July. Special Events Coordinator Kathy Strong Langolf says the College for Kids and LEAPS programs will be available again this summer. College for Kids is for 5th through 8th graders and runs from July 18th through the 21st. She says kids will be able to pick two courses out of the variety that is offered. She says classes run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a break for lunch, which will be provided. LEAPS is similar, but for younger kids. It’s for 2nd through 4th graders and will from July 25th through the 28th with classes running from 9 a.m. to noon. She says though the classes for both programs are in July the deadline for registration is coming up soon. That deadline is June 10th and there are scholarships available. Parents who are willing to chaperone will receive a reduced registration fee for their child. Information on registration is available at the UW-Fond du Lac website.

EAA Old Glory Honor Flight

EAA AirVenture has a strong tradition of honoring America’s veterans, and this year is no exception. Old Glory Honor Flight, partnered with EAA and American Airlines, is bringing Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight IV to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2016. This flight will take place on Friday, July 29. The veterans will fly to Washington, D.C. to tour war memorials at no cost to them. EAA will hold a welcome ceremony upon the return of the flight, which is part of the day’s Salute to Veterans. There will be music sponsored by DAV and EAA Warbirds of America. Earlier on Friday there will be the annual Parade of Veterans where all veterans in attendance are invited to assemble and walk with their respective branches of service. Applications will be accepted June 1 through June 30, online only. Interested veterans may go to www.oldgloryhonorflight.org to apply. About 100 applications will be randomly chosen. Those not selected will be added to Old Glory Honor Flight’s regular waiting list for upcoming flights.
