Local Non-Profit Gets Big Boost Of Recognition

Bitterly cold temps have returned to the Fond du Lac area, and it’s a reminder that many young children don’t have a warm bed to sleep in at night.

A local non-profit is trying to change that, and they just received a large boost of recognition.

Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt announced Wednesday (1/19/2022) that Tom and Christine Otte will be recognized as Hometown Heroes for their role in founding the local “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” chapter in Fond du Lac.

The group is made up of volunteers, and is dedicated to building, assembling, and delivering beds and bunk beds to children in need.

“Sleep in Heavenly Peace” was started in 2012 and has grown to nearly 300 chapters.

The group provides free beds, sheets, pillow cases, and blankets to children at zero cost to families.

The Otte’s will receive their award next week Tuesday, January 25.
